The Department of Family Health Care Nursing (FHCN) is one of three clinical departments within the School of Nursing. FHCN prepares students to receive PhDs in Nursing Science and Master's degrees in the following five specialty areas:
• Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)
• Certified Nurse Midwifery/ Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner
• Pediatric Nurse Practitioner
• Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner
• Neonatal Nurse Practitioner/Clinical Nurse Specialist.

The UCSF Center for Global Nursing was recently launched at the Institute of Global Health Sciences. It is an established partnership between the UCSF School of Nursing, UCSF Health (medical centers), and IGHS. The center is dedicated to cultivating the global nursing and APP community, as well as learning and service opportunities for our faculty and staff. We are also involved in collaborative work across UCSF/IGHS with the Center for Health Equity, Surgery and Anesthesia (CHESA), the UCSF WHO Collaborating Center for Emergency, Critical, and Operative Care, Global Cancer Center, and others.

The Department of Anesthesia and CHESA have led several research, education and policy advocacy initiatives for decades including the recently implemented Open Oximetry project (openoximetry.org), which aims to advance equity in access and reliability of pulse oximeters.

The UCSF Nurse-Midwifery specialty, housed in the Family Health Care Nursing (FHCN) Department, seeks a graduate work-study learner. The learner will support the Midwifery Mentoring and Belonging (MMB) program, a program committed to mentorship, community building and the fostering of meaningful experiences for BIPOC-identifying students and the greater BIPOC midwifery community in California. Our mission is to develop meaningful mentorship opportunities for BIPOC midwifery students throughout their midwifery education. This position provides an opportunity to contribute unique perspectives and experiences to the evolution of this program and will be a valued member of the MMB team.
