The UCSF Center for Global Nursing was recently launched at the Institute of Global Health Sciences. It is an established partnership between the UCSF School of Nursing, UCSF Health (medical centers), and IGHS. The center is dedicated to cultivating the global nursing and APP community, as well as learning and service opportunities for our faculty and staff. We are also involved in collaborative work across UCSF/IGHS with the Center for Health Equity, Surgery and Anesthesia (CHESA), the UCSF WHO Collaborating Center for Emergency, Critical, and Operative Care, Global Cancer Center, and others.

The Department of Anesthesia and the Center for Health Equity in Surgery and Anesthesia (chesa.ucsf.edu) are committed to improving the care and health outcomes among disadvantaged populations locally and globally. The Department of Anesthesia and CHESA have led several research, education and policy advocacy initiatives for decades including the recently implemented Open Oximetry project (openoximetry.org), which aims to advance equity in access and reliability of pulse oximeters.
