Graduate Assistant Position: Programming Assistant (Work-Study)

$30 an hour

This is an in-person position with up to 2 days/week in office

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Program and Administrative Graduate Assistant reports directly to the Executive Director of the and works closely with the Assistant Director. This role is scheduled for 10 hours/week, including some evening hours This position runs from September 2023 to December 2023 (with the possibility of extension). In this role, the Graduate Assistant will:
• Administrative and office management duties (e.g. welcoming/greeting guests)
• Assist in the planning and implementation of MRC programming and events (attending planning meetings, quarterly Cultural RCO Leader gathering, supporting in cultural and awareness heritage + history months)
• Work with MRC staff to design and develop multicultural and social justice project
• Represent the Multicultural Resource Center at various events, committees, and outreach activities.
• Distribute evaluations and assessments (e.g., email attendees; follow-up/reminders)
• Attend bi-weekly supervision meetings and professional development
• Other duties assigned

Learning Outcomes:
• Gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of equity and social justice issues
• Enhance and develop critical thinking, communication, community building and leadership skills
• Develop comprehensive event planning skills through implementation of campus-wide events

Required Qualifications:
• High personal motivation, self-management, attention to detail, and an ability to work under supervision and with a team
• A firm understanding of social justice, intersectionality, ethnic & racial diversity, and LGBTQI populations.
• Results driven with an openness to receiving feedback
• Full-time enrollment in a graduate degree program at the University of California, San Francisco
• Work-study eligibility

Preferred qualifications:
• Former experience in student organizing, intercultural work, or equity and social justice programming
• Basic knowledge and interest in design tools such as Canva and graphic design skills.
