Based on a reputation of quality and service, Housing Services strives to be the housing destination of choice for eligible UCSF affiliates. As a self-supporting auxiliary unit under Campus Life Services, Housing Services generates more than $16MM annually and has a $22MM reserve allocated to support renewal and capital projects. Its rental income supports all operations, major maintenance and facility renewal, and new construction initiatives for its properties located at Mission Bay, Aldea San Miguel and along the Avenues at Parnassus and the Tidelands in the Dogpatch neighborhood.
Duties & Responsibilities
The Housing Services Student Assistant will provide administrative support to the customer services team and other members of the Housing Services team, specifically at the Tidelands Housing community. They will report to the Customer Services Manager and will help with mail services within two of our buildings: 590 Minnesota Street and 600 Minnesota Street.
Some common duties will include:
Receiving delivery of USPS mail and packages on Saturdays
Sorting, distributing USPS mail to tenant mailboxes located at 590 Minnesota Street and 600 Minnesota Street
Sorting, and distributing tenant packages into the Parcel Pending locker system for tenants to pick up
Looking up tenant apartment information in our records database
Checking that mailboxes are accurately labeled tenant names and apartments. Updating labels when appropriate
Occasionally and if scheduling permits, the Housing Students Assistant may be asked to help receive, distribute and audit mail and packages on the weekdays if our team is short-staffed.
The Housing Services Student Assistant may also be asked to provide general administrative support to others within Housing Services, such as our Administrative, Facilities, Finance and Projects teams. This support will come in the form of general administrative responsibilities (i.e. filing, data entry, answering phones, emails, etc.).

Required Skills and Qualifications
Ability to work with diverse groups, including but not limited to students, staff, faculty, general public, production personnel, technical operators and delivery services.
Ability to lift/push/pull/carry up to 50 lbs.
Proven competency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Proven competency with MAC and PC applications and web browsers
Ability to work professionally under pressure and under tight deadlines ensuring excellent customer service support.
Ability to perform tasks independently with little or no on-site supervision.
Proven ability to handle tasks with discretion and confidentiality
Ability to be a good steward of University and Tenant property
Demonstrated high levels of integrity and responsibility
Ability to work on weekends (Saturday/Sunday)
- Reading and writing proficiency in English
