Program and Administrative Assistant

$20 an hour

10 to 12 hours per week

The Program and Administrative Graduate Assistant for the Multicultural Resource Center will support the Center’s need for our scope of work that includes: (1) community building events; (2) social justice programming; (3) student support for historically underrepresented learners; and (4) education and training on multicultural and diversity foundations. This position works directly with the Director and Assistant Director to ensure that the daily operations and programmatic efforts of the Multicultural Resources Center are upheld.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Program and Administrative Graduate Assistant reports directly to the Director of the Multicultural Affairs and works closely with the Assistant Director. This role is scheduled for 10 – 12 hours/week, including some evening and/or weekend hours. This year-long position runs from October 2021 to June 2022 (with the possibility of extension). In this role, the Graduate Assistant will:

• Administrative and office management duties (e.g. welcoming/greeting guests)

• Assist in the planning and implementation of MRC programming and events

• Work with MRC Leadership to design and develop multicultural and social justice project

• Represent the Multicultural Resource Center at various events, committees, and outreach activities,

• Support in the management and development of online resources, including webpages, email outreach campaigns, monthly newsletters, and infographics

• Distribute evaluations and assessments (e.g., email attendees; follow-up/reminders)

• Organize and synthesize data to formulate reports

• Attend weekly supervision meetings and professional development

• Other duties assigned

• Enhance and develop critical thinking, communication, community building and leadership skills

• Develop comprehensive event planning skills through implementation of campus-wide events

Required Qualifications:
• High personal motivation, self-management, attention to detail, and an ability to work under supervision and with a team

• A firm understanding of social justice, intersectionality, ethnic & racial diversity, and LGBTQI populations.

• Full-time enrollment in a graduate degree program at the University of California, San Francisco

• Work-study eligibility

Preferred qualifications:
• Former experience in student affairs/organizing, intercultural work, or equity and social justice programming

• Basic knowledge and interest in design tools such as Canva and graphic design skills.
