Data Visualization Intern

$20 an hour

Flexible (10-15 hours per week)

The intern will work closely with the Self Injection Learning Exchange (SI-LX) Director to review research materials from eleven research projects all working on self injection across six countries. Specifically, they will help populate a “knowledge tracker/excel dashboard” with information about each project (e.g., data collection activities, study population, research results, etc.). They will also prepare materials (e.g., power point slide decks, reports, briefs and other materials) for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. These slide decks/reports will consolidate the Self Injection evidence from all of the projects to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and to the grantees themselves to learn from each other.

The Director of Research and Dissemination will provide guidance and oversight for all tasks to ensure that the intern is learning and contributing to the Self Injection Learning Exchange. If the intern would like to, there will be opportunities to virtually present the work within UCSF, at external conferences, and/or to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Desired experience/qualifications:

  • Create aesthetically appealing visuals for slide decks (e.g., graphs, infographics, charts, maps, qualitative narrative presentation, etc.)
  • Ability to read complex research reports and identify relevant information to input in excel and to populate slide decks
  • Experience using complex information from multiple sources and presenting it in a coherent format (both quantitative and qualitative)
  • Basic experience with excel (e.g., inputting data)
