School of Medicine Grant

Increases in mandatory fees (state tuition) and professional degree supplemental tuition (PDST) will be covered for grant recipients. Also, School of Medicine grants will increase by 4% each year of enrollment. (Grants are not increased to cover Medicine 3 and Medicine 4 summer fees, which are $3,942 for 2020-21.)

A School of Medicine grant over time, even with $0 tuition & fee increases, would look like this:

Monthly Cost of Living Allowance

Student Financial Aid establishes a modest, yet adequate cost of living allowance to determine financial aid eligibility each school year. This allowance includes housing and utilities, food, transportation, personal and miscellaneous, and medical expenses. The off-campus allowance assumes shared housing costs.

Of those who borrowed student loans of any kind while at UCSF in the School of Medicine graduating class of 2019, the average amount borrowed at UCSF was $143,099 (there were 112 students in the class who borrowed). 69% of the graduates graduated with UCSF debt.
