Free Application for Federal Student Aid (School code 001319)
How And When Financial Aid Is Received
Fee Offsets
Whenever possible, a portion of the campus-based financial aid offered will be in the form of a "fee offset" which is money applied directly toward UCSF fees.
Borrowers who receive a fee offset from a loan award must sign a promissory note.
When registering each quarter, students should refer to the fee statement (available via the Office of Admissions and Registrar's website) to make sure that all scheduled fee offsets are reflected accurately.
Federal Direct (Stafford) Loan funds are not used to offset fees and are disbursed in the form of an EFT only.
Financial Aid Disbursement
After fees have been offset the balance of aid is distributed in the form of EFT at the beginning of each quarter.
Students receive approximately one-third of their school year awards each quarter.
Click here for the disbursement schedule. Students admitted after July 31 may receive funds up to four weeks after the fall quarter begins and must be prepared to cover their own costs until funds are available.
The Work-Study Paycheck
Work-Study students are paid on the first of each month.
Students may receive a paycheck or have their salary electronically sent to a checking or savings account via direct deposit. (The University's direct deposit system is called "Surepay.")
Monthly Time Records must be submitted to the Student Financial Aid Office by certain deadline dates in order for students to receive their salary on the first of each month.
